Need help, I'm just a beginner

So, I'm a beginner in modding and would love to try to mod my drive to play backup games. I'm getting the new 360 Slim next week, so it doesn't matter if my old 360 breaks.

I know how to open up the case, I've watched the tutorial video and read it also. I have the Hitachi drive. So, when I get the drive out of the xbox 360 case, I need to connect it to my pc with a SATA cable, right? Now the problem is that I don't know what sort of SATA cable I need. I have looked for some of them, and I found this one. Does it look like right?

First of all, welcome! Wink

Its a good start that you've already watched a few videos and opened the case up, its more than what most have done. Yes thats the SATA cable you need (they're all the same).

You can start by readin the Jungleflasher tutorial, it has everything you need to know and is the perfect tutorial for a beginner like yourself.

A little word of warning though, the current firmware that is out for the Hitachi drives is unsafe for playing on Xbox Live with and I doubt one will be released that is anytime soon.

Okay I just opened the 360 up again and was going to try and mod the drive today. Then I watched the tutorial for ModeB again, and started wondering why the drive looks different in the video than mine. Then I looked more carefully in the "hole" and noticed there are yellow wires instead of no wires. So I have a LiteOn drive instead of the Hitachi one...

Now how can I get this LiteOn drive to ModeB? Rolling Eyes

you DONT! - read the jungleflasher tutorial!
it explains EXACTLY what steps you need to take dependant on your drive type and firmware version!
